Recently found an Apollo, picked it up with rails and bed already separated. Reclothed the bed and rails but when putting it back together found that the rails stick up almost 1/4″ above the wood rails???? Anyway all the holes line up and it’s playable but seems like someone put on aftermarket rails maybe? Tried Penguin and they are thinking about how to fix it as the Kaye rails where not consistent like the Valley’s. Also missing the trim pieces that cover up the rail bolts and several of the anchors for the rail bolts have broken off or are missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Located near Niagara Falls on the Canadian side.
Here is a photo of the original rails with the dimensions. The original rails are with 1 1/2 “too high anyway. That is bad and only allows mediocre play. With balls for pool, the nose of the rubber must be just above the center of the ball. 1 1/3” is ideal here. If the nose is too deep the ball will bounce and if it is too high it will slow the ball down.
This is what it looks like with the rails of a professional table. The nose is just above the center of the ball.
The diamonds over the screws of the rails are mostly broken or look hideous after so many decades. So I found covers for screws in the sanitary area, which I only had to reduce a little at the edge. I left a small edge at the top so that the cover doesn’t fall into the hole for the screw. I’ve used this trick on many of Irving Kaye’s tables and it always looks good.
They can be easily removed later with a screwdriver or a pick to get to the screw underneath, and you can use them again and again.

That’s great thanks, what are the silicone strips usually used for (wondering what to look for at the hardware store….)
The material is available on 4 foot wide rolls such as vinyl adhesive film. I don’t know who offers it in your area, I also had to search a long time. I think an advertising company can provide you with this material because it is also used for promotional products. I found it with us in a hardware store.
