So I can’t seem to find the pictures from before… since this project have been half finished and dormant for almost a year.
Long story short… this table had not seen any love nor care for probably the better part of 2-3decades.
Deep scratches and holes penetrating the wood in several places.
Half of the hatch that covers the ball catcher and coinmech was totally shattered and mostly missing (probably what happen when total retards are missing a key).Cue ball sorter was also busted.
The legs where pressed up into the bottom of the table to the point where the table would sit about 4inches lower that what it should.
Plywood de-laminating in several places and internal structure more or less falling apart.
We started the restoration by tearing down everything that could be stripped of and removed.
Flipped it upside-down and attached a brand new 4×8 board on the bottom of the table. Attaching it with generous amounts of wood glue.
Slowly “pulling” things true and straight onto it by means of about 100 wood screws. A thick metal sheet on each leg attachment point helps spread the weight of the table even future.
Inside of each point is future braced with lengths of solid pine wood.
Brand new nuts bolts and big washers secures the legs to the newly reinforced bottom part. Creating a solid base.Every joint in the entire structure of the table has been reinforced with wood glue and countless wood screws.
To firm things up even future.. some old furniture (that had some good strong wood) was cannibalized and used as additional bracing thats glued and screwed.
Holes and scratches have been filled with wood filler, and the hatch for the ball collector side was rebuilt. Even went as far as making a new mini hatch to cover the hole where I assume a coin drawer once resided.
Entire table sanded and repainted in brownish black.
3 layers on the sides and 5 layers on the top.Ball return tacks have been scrubbed clean along with every other part of this table.
Before reinstalling the ball return aluminium tracks, automotive sound deadening was applied to the back side to reduce noise and resonance.
Pretty much every metal part of this table got a bit of sound deadening treatment.Attaching the last bit of trim this evening and probably covering
the table in new cloth sometime before the weekend.There are some blemishes that show up on the photos that are not visible in person, so I guess I’ll have to delete the photos from my camera and pretend I never noticed them… at least try to forget.
Circular grey spots are obviously dust particles being lit up by the camera flash…. though some would insist its spirits orbs (maybe Casper wants to play?)
Probably forgot to mention something but oh well…
Just done covering the table….
Need to fine tune the levelling of the play surface.
But other than that there are only a few minor details missing.But then there was beers…. and for the rest of the evening we did not
care that the table need to be just a hair higher on one side.Replacing the dodgy old hanging light with something a bit more proper for a pool table….

Plus a can of mat black spray paint and some masking tape.Last and final addition to the table is some buttons we picked up at the arts and craft store…. attached with a bit of hot glue to cover the bolt holes.
I guess that completes this particular project.
