A couple of weeks ago we got a note from our new friends at the hit show American Pickers. They were researching an Irving Kaye Stanley Cup Hockey game barn find and they needed a little help. We were glad to oblige and here’s a clip of the show as it aired on the History Channel.
Irving Kaye Co. Inc. discontinued doing business in 1981. This is a collection of news items written about this uniquely American brand.
The Orginal Irving Kaye Factory Building is for Sale
Before Irving Kaye built their state-of-the-art factory in Connecticut they were housed at 363 Prospect Place, Brooklyn New York 11238. This 30,000 sq ft property in Prospect Heights is now for sale and is zoned as either a warehouse or residential property. The asking price for this piece of American history is a mere 3.9 million. Hopefully, the developer that buys the property will honor its legacy with the Irving Kaye name.
Update Mar 2020: From 1960 to 1981, 363 Prospect Place was the home of the Irving Kaye Company, a famed maker of billiard and game tables. See what $5000 a month will get you in Brooklyn, NY: https://www.halstead.com/closed/rental/ny/brooklyn/prospect-heights/363-prospect-place/
Howard and Arnold Kaye on the cover of RePlay Magazine
Celebrating the Silver Anniversary of Irving Kaye Co Inc. on the cover of RePlay Magazine in 1980.
Heres a cool follow-up to this 1980 profile on Howard and Arnold Kaye written by Eddie Adlum, Publisher of RePlay magazine from his blog September 2019. https://www.replaymag.com/september-2019/
Referring to Howard:
Howie was a fun guy, one of those “pushy” salesmen who sort of define the New York personality. We once got into a discussion about what “being happy” really meant and how you go about getting it. Howie’s definition of “happy” was having a pleasant life punctuated now and then by fun, even euphoric events (like charging down a steep slope on skis, which was his passion).”
Irving Kaye Foosball at the Playboy Club
“The rabbit hutch that went awry: Playboy Great Gorge had seven hundred rooms, a twenty-seven-hole championship golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, five restaurants, a cabaret venue, a discotheque, and enough convention space for up to four thousand people—all in the tiny village of McAfee within the vast township of Vernon. When Playboy enterprises stumbled in the 1980’s, so did this high-heeled alpine resort. In the last years of the twentieth century, the property’s new name became the Legends Resort and Country Club.”

Irving Kaye Foosball Tournament
Foosball Tournament for Fun and Prizes
by Barbara Bjelke
At one time or another in one’s usual escapades in bars on or off campus, the game of foosball becomes a familiar sight or pastime. On March 18, and 19, there was a Hurricane Foosball Tournament held at the Holiday Inn of Stony Brook. The tournament, sponsored by the Irving Kaye Company, Incorporated drew participants not only from the immediate vicinity but from around the tri-state area as well. This weekend’s tournament is one leg in a series of tournaments to be held by the Irving Kaye Company this spring; all of which include $1,000 in prize money. [Read more…]
